About the Site
[From Greek, "diglossos," speaking two languages: di-, two + glossa, tongue, language]
(Linguistics) “Diglossia”: The Coexistence of two forms of the same language in a speech community. Often, one form is the literary or prestige dialect, and the other is a common dialect spoken by most of the population.
We all have a variety of interests, but we generally follow two paths: We have the things we do with our close friends, loved ones, family; and then there are the things that we do with the general public or for work. In other words, there is a public and a private side, and along with that aspect we speak differently depending upon the situation and audience. Keeping that in mind, we named our blog site “Diglossos,” a Greek term meaning “speaking two languages.”
The idea is simple: a site for travelers who are also writers and artists to share their stories and visions. Have you ever read a story and been inspired to write your own theme because of it? Or have you thought of drawing or painting something inspired by or based on something you’ve read? Maybe you’ve even thought of some good music to go along with the story you’ve read? At Diglossos, we want to share stories that will captivate, inspire and motivate you because you not only want to talk about your experiences; you want to expand on them.
Diglossos is more than a linguistic term, though. All of us enjoy adventure and meeting like-minded souls. The Diglossos team wants to expand the idea of the social website or blog to include experiences outside of the virtual world. In other words, we want to go beyond the story: we want to meet you in the flesh, on your home turf or at a place we both share the dream to see. So, we will also organize “expeditions” so that members can get together.
So, Diglossos will be more than a blog; it will be a starting point. This is a community of writers and adventurers who are willing to share their stories and their time. You don’t have to travel that far either, for some of the events we want to follow will be happening in your back yard: poetry readings at the local cafe or pub, your brother’s guitar performance at a local bar during amateur night, a sweet place to gather after a bike ride or on a hot day that’s on the water and is never crowded….
We hope that you enjoy the ride.

I am really savoring the look and format of your blogging site. It truly is an exceptionally simple around the eyes which tends to make it way more pleasurable for me to come back listed here and pay a visit to a lot more normally. Hi. Thanks for the complement. The basic them is Ocean Mist, which is a WordPress theme. (I’m still learning CSS; so, it was better to leave things to a professional.) However, the customization from there was all mine. Thanks for reading, and please feel free to send topic suggestions.
